So you’ve had your April Fool’s gag. Perhaps it’s time to do something unusual on a day one normally associates with pranks and gags. Like maybe listen to a high voltage lecture on perspectives about creativity vis a vis India and the West.

Today, as part of the series of Friday engagements at the Gallery Gitanjali, located at the quaint old quarter of the capital in Fontainhas, is a talk by celebrated writer Sudhir Kakar​ titled 'Artistic Creativity - Western and Indian Perspective'​s. The talk is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm and is open to all.

The riddle of extraordinary artistic creativity has always fascinated curious minds in East and West. This talk discusses the psychological and spiritual approaches to art and artistic genius as it compares European views of creativity with those of the Hindu tradition predominantly found in India.

Dr.Sudhir Kakar is India’s leading psychoanalyst, in addition to being a novelist, and a scholar in the fields of Cultural Psychology and the Psychology of Religion.

SudhirKakar is a psychoanalyst and writer who lives in Goa, India. He was a lecturer in General Education at Harvard University, Research Associate at Harvard Business School and Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He was also

the Head of Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Indian Institute of Technology.

A prolific writer Kakar has twenty one nonfiction works apart from six works of fiction published.

He is married to Katharina, a writer and a scholar of comparative religions and artist. He has two children, a son Rahul who is in financial services, and a daughter Shveta, a lawyer, both in New York.
