Two resorts, partly owned by Opposition Leader Michael Lobo in North Goa, have been issued show-cause notices over several illegalities, according to Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane, who threatened to initiate demolition process if "correct answers" are not received.
"Nazri Resort and De Baga Deck at Baga in Calangute have been issued show-cause notices," Rane told the media after a meeting of the TCP Board he chaired on Thursday evening.
"If correct answers are not received for the show-cause notices, action will be taken and they will go for demolition," Rane said, adding that both hotels are fit cases for demolition.
He also said that there can be action under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
”I will try to demolish them within my tenure,” Rane went on to add, saying it will set an example.
Meanwhile, Rane said, sanads already issued on the basis of the three ODPs suspended and currently under review, will not be withdrawn.
"Some people were trying to misguide the people of the State that the sanads that are already issued will be withdrawn. We did not say such thing. The order says that till the suspension is removed, fresh sanads should not be given,” Rane said.
Rane also said that the review report of the suspended ODPs will be ready by mid-June.
For several weeks, ever since the three ODPs were suspended, Rane has on and off levelled severe allegations of malfeasance against Lobo pertaining to land-related illegalities.
An FIR has also been registered at the Mapusa police station against the Leader of Opposition and his legislator-wife Delilah for alleged illegalities in developing a Parra property they jointly own.
