OLD GOA
The Se Old Goa panchayat on Monday issued a show-cause notice to the owner of the controversial structure, asking why the illegal construction should not be demolished.
The show-cause notice was issued to the owner Sumermal Jain of Corvus Urban Infrastructures LLP by the panchayat secretary under Section 47 of the Goa Panchayat Raj (GPR) Act.
The owner has been given seven days to reply to the show-cause notice, failing which further action would be initiated under Section 66 (4) of the GPR Act, which pertains to demolition.
“The next step of the process is order for demolition of the structure,” secretary Ashish Naik informed The Goan.
It may be recalled that the panchayat authorities led by Sarpanch Janita Madkaikar had conducted a site inspection cum panchanama of the structure on January 13, after having revoked construction and subsequent renewal licenses.
Later, in its subsequent fortnightly meeting held on January 20, the panchayat authorities had resolved to issue show-cause notice to the owner of the structure, asking why the structure should not be demolished as it is now deemed to be illegal.
