Ports Minister Michael Lobo has said every panchayat must have ambulance and hearse van to help the needy persons of their villages
“An ambulance plays an important role in helping one get emergency healthcare and it is essential that an ambulance is available at each panchayat. Hearse vans should also be available with the panchayat.
“During the Covid pandemic, private ambulances and hearse vans were accused of exhorbitant charges,” said Lobo.
He was speaking at Pilerne after handing over a new ambulance to the Pilerne-Marra panchayat in the presence of Sarpanch Sandeep Bandodkar, Reis Magos Sarpanch Kedar Naik, panch members Amarnath Govekar, Karan Govekar, Santosh Bandodkar and ZP members.
Lobo said the ambulance will be available for use in the villages of Pilerne-Marra, Reis Magos, Nerul and Sangolda.
The minister said the ambulance has been provided by the Golden Peace Hotel under its CSR initiative. The charges for the driver and to maintain the ambulance will be borne by the NGO Parra Citizens.
He said the ward member of every panchayat should coordinate with the ambulance driver and offer services to needy people free of cost.
Lobo also mentioned that every panchayat should have a tractor, to offer free services to farmers for their farming activity.
“All these services should be provided by panchayat members on humanitarian ground and not in anticipation of votes,” said Lobo.
Pilerne Sarpanch Sandeep Bandodkar and panch member Amarnath Govekar spoke on the occasion and thanked the minister for providing the ambulance to the panchayats in Saligao constituency.
