A heated argument over the serving of liquor at a bar in Sancoale on Monday night took a violent turn when a waiter allegedly attacked a customer with a drinking glass, leaving him injured.
According to a complaint filed by Sachin Rathod, a resident of Sancoale and a native of Karnataka, the incident occurred around 8 pm at Laila Bar and Restaurant on Monday. Rathod alleged that the waiter, identified as Bittu Mondal, a resident of Sancoale and a native of Nepal, first abused him in filthy language and then struck him with a glass, causing injuries to his ear and neck.
Verna police promptly arrested Mondal and registered a case under Sections 118(1) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The probe is being carried out by Verna PSI Pramila Fernandes under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
