MAPUSA

Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Sandeep Falari on Monday said that 'Ward Consultant Committees' would be formed to give priority to development work in Mapusa municipality.

Addressing the Goa Liberation Day celebration at Hutatma Chowk in Mapusa, Falari said that the Ward Consultant Committees would be headed by the respective councillors.

Freedom fighter and MMC's first elected chairperson Jayaram Shirsat hoisted the national flag and was later felicitated by Deputy Chief Minister Francis D'Souza.

Speaking further, Falari said the sacrifices of freedom fighters should be remembered as they had struggled to ensure Goa's freedom from colonial rule.

“Development projects are being taken up in Mapusa city through the support of Deputy CM Francis D'Souza and others. In the coming period, these projects will be a big benefit for Mapusa and it will also generate an increase in revenue for MMC,” he added.

Present and former councillors, freedom fighters, government and municipal officers and former MLAs were among those present at the function.
