Ward councillor blames MMC

Ward councillor Pascoale D’Souza has accused residents of other wards of dumping garbage at Mangor in a bid to malign his image.

VASCO:
“The residents of ward 11, represented by Saifullha Khan, and Ward 12, represented by Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Deepak Naik, have dumped the garbage to malign my image,” said D’Souza.
“I have been spending money from my salary to tackle the problem faced by my ward people, as MMC is not helping,” said D’Souza.
State NCP President and former Vasco MLA Jose Philip D’Souza, who was also present at the site, said the BJP was not gaining anything by harassing the residents of ward 17 and on the contrary was losing its image.
“They harass the people of ward 17 as it is represented by my brother and they think that by doing so they are creating hatred in their minds against me,” said Jose Philip.
When contacted, junior officer of PWD (sewerage) Prashant Naik initially feigned ignorance and added that the contractor was not traceable.
When asked if it took one week to trace the contractor, Naik immediately called the contractor and directed him to clear the overflowing sewage chambers.
