PANAJI
Social worker Warren Alemao joined the Congress party along with his supporters on Tuesday, vowing to fight BJP rule and corruption in Goa.
Speaking to the media during his induction ceremony at Congress House in Panaji, Alemao said his decision to join the party was driven by the objective of the ‘Goy Rakhon Yatra’.
“The reason why I joined Congress was due to a single motto, which is the motto of the ‘Goy Rakhon Yatra’. We don’t want BJP and corruption in Goa, and we have to throw them out,” Alemao said.
He highlighted the lack of employment opportunities for youth in the Benaulim constituency, despite the presence of several five-star hotels.
“Benaulim has the maximum number of five-star hotels but minimum employment for locals. Today, our shack owners are in trouble. The taxi business, which is a huge business across all seven villages in Benaulim, is suffering because of the introduction of Goa Miles,” he said.
Alemao also pledged his commitment to Congress, stating that it would be his first and last political party.
