Stating that work on the 20 MLD water treatment plant has begun, Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has also said that water from Tillari will be diverted from Guirim to Porvorim to ensure that residents of Porvorim plateau get sufficient water.
He was speaking to reporters after inspecting the ongoing work of the water treatment plant near police quarters on Porvorim plateau along with WRD Chief Engineer Sandeep Nadkarni and other engineers.
"Work on the 20 MLD water treatment plant has begun. In the first phase, work to construct the lake has been taken up. This is a unique concept and water required for this lake will be brought from Guirim by laying a separate pipeline," said Khaunte.
"The first phase will comprise construction of the lake, a walking track by the side of the lake and illumination."
"In the second phase, work to lay a pipeline from Guirim to Porvorim will be taken up, to enable diversion of Tillari water from Guirim to Porvorim."
"On completion of this Rs 22.4 crore project, residents of Porvorim will get sufficient water," said the Porvorim MLA, adding that work to lay underground cables for uninterrupted supply power will begin shortly.
Khaunte also said that panchayats in Porvorim constituency have taken up collection and segregation of garbage.
"I have given importance to provide basic amenities to residents of Porvorim and on completion of all these projects, Porvorim will be an ideal constituency in the State," said Khaunte.
