SANGUEM:
The water pipeline supplying water to Sanguem and some parts of Curchorem areas ruptured on the main road at Cotarli-Sanguem, spilling huge amounts of potable water while also damaging the road and causing a traffic jam.
The incident happened at around 4:30 pm on the main road leading to Cotarli village.
Inquiries revealed that work on an underground power line was underway in the Cotarli area and there was a water pipeline supplying water to Sanguem and some parts of Curchorem underneath the place where the excavation was being done.
While work was in progress, the water pipeline suddenly burst and cracks appeared on the asphalted road at the spot where the water pipeline burst.
The pipeline burst also disrupted the traffic flow for a couple of hours.
The incident led to wastage of huge quantity of water while also disrupting the water supply the affected areas for some time.
