Water Sports operations in South Goa are all set to start in the new tourism season, beginning from Dussehra day on Wednesday, with the Tourism department granting the licenses to the operators on Tuesday.
The water sports operators from South Goa led by its president Domingo Rodrigues, Secretary Roy Barreto, Remy Fernandes, Pele Fernandes and others were at the Tourism office in the South Goa Collectorate on Tuesday evening to collect their permissions.
The Tourism staff also worked beyond 5.45 pm on Tuesday as they cleared the applications for permission from the water sports operators.
Roy Barreto and the water sports operators thanked Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Tourism Director Nikhil Desai, Tourism Officials and Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai for addressing their concerns over the proposed jetty policy.
They pointed out that the operators had fruitful discussions with Tourism Director Nikhil Desai and other officials after they had called on the Goa Forward chief with their grievances.
Roy said they have signed the documents insisted by the Tourism department that they would accept the new jetty policy on the condition that the undertaking will not be prejudicial to their interests.
