The Fatorda police on Tuesday arrested one Jalees Jailani, a resident of Chandrawaddo for the offence of cheating following a complaint alleging that he did not return the money deposited with him.
While the police later said they are on the lookout for four other persons, who were part of the company inviting investments from citizens, DySP Bhushan Shivendu told the media that the police have so far not found any link to the accused with the banned Popular Front of India.
DySP Shivendu, however, said the police is investigating the aspect of whether the accused was in any way linked to the banned PFI.
To another question, DySP Shivendu said the police has arrested the accused based on a complaint, adding that the police has so far received only one complaint against the accused.
The Magistrate Court later ordered the release of Jalees Jailani on executing a personal bond of Rs 30,000, with one surety of the like amount, to the satisfaction of the investigating officer.
The court further directed the accused to attend the concerned police station every day from Oct 5-11, 2022 (both days inclusive) from 10.00 hours to 13.00 hours, and whenever called upon by the investigating officer in connection with the present crime.
He has been told not to tamper with the evidence connected to the present crime and not to threaten any witnesses concerned in the present crime in any manner.
