PORVORIM
The water treatment plant at Porvorim which was inaugurated on January 5 at the hands of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the presence of former Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has now been commissioned finally after a month .
The Public Works Department has started pumping 2 to 3 MLD water from the Porvorim Water treatment plant every day.
Sources from the PWD stated that Porvorim is getting potable water from Assnora water treatment plant . Some areas of Porvorim constituency are not getting this water.
The water from Porvorim reservoir is being supplied to those areas which do not get the water from Assnora plant.
Presently PWD has started supplying water from Porvorim reservoir to Torda and from next week onward the water will be supplied to Housing Board colony and Pundaliknagar.
Sources further mentioned that the residents of Kitla in Salvador do Mundo are facing acute water scarcity .All the Over Head Reservoirs( OHR) except one at Kitla and the other near JMJ hospital are connected to Porvorim Treatment plant.The work of OHR at Kitla not yet completed and hence they are unable to supply to Kitla .
The pipeline from Porvorim water reservoir to OHR near JMJ hospital is yet to laid .The water is being supplied to Torda presently on testing basis.
The Porvorim water reservoir is not getting sufficient water from Tillari .Hence they have not been able to treat and supply 15 MLD water on regular basis to Porvorim constituency .Presently they are treating only 2 to 3 MLD water and supplying the same to Torda .
As the water supply from Tillary will increase gradually more and more water will be treated and will be be supplied to those areas who are starving for tap water said the sources.
