Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said the State government will go ahead with the policy that has been adopted on the Medium of Instruction (MoI) issue.
Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters in Panaji, Senior BJP Spokesperson Narendra Sawaikar said, “As far as we are concerned, time and again we have reiterated our stand on MoI. We will go ahead with the policy that we have adopted.”
When asked about the newly appointed State RSS chief Laxman Behere’s opinion that grants should be given only to Konkani and Marathi primary schools, he said, “Nana Behere has been appointed the sanghachalak for the State and they will continue with their work in future. He has not yet had a dialogue with us on the issue.”
Stating that BJP is an independent political party, Sawaikar said, “RSS is one of the revered and respectable organisations not only in India, but also the world. As BJP, we respect all the decisions taken by the RSS, but we are an independent political party. BJP takes decisions and moves forward by taking everyone into confidence.”
Stating that BJP has already begun preparations for the upcoming Assembly polls, Sawaikar said, “We are hopeful that under the guidance of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari who has been given the responsibility of Goa and Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, we will successfully win the elections.”
Meanwhile, he also informed that under the flagship scheme of the government, Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY), 1,68,824 applications have already been processed through 17 centres.
“Nearly 1,12,733 cards have been printed and are being issued to the public. And 24 patients have availed of the benefits under the scheme across 7 hospitals as of today”, he said.
