South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar on Saturday gave a ray of hope to the mining dependents saying a way will be worked out so that mining operations can continue in the State.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Prime Saheli Women’s Day celebrations at Janata Vachanalaya in the presence of MMC Chairperson Deepak Naik, Director of Public Grievances Deepali Naik, Councillor Reema Sonurlekar, Lavina D’Souza and others.
Sawaikar said he had recently met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and other union ministers and secretaries concerned, to apprise them about the situation in Goa.
“We have apprised the central leadership and they are well informed about the situation that is likely to arise from the directions issued by the Supreme Court. My meeting with union minister Nitin Gadkari, union ministers and secretaries concerned is already over.”
“Since it is a Supreme Court order, we have to find a way out and resolve the issue and it is being studied. But I want to assure the people of Goa that there will definitely be a way out. The State government and Central government are concerned and we will surely find a way out so that mining operations can continue”, said Sawaikar.
Asked about the scope of an ordinance, Sawaikar replied: “An ordinance is an exceptional route and at times, it can be issued.
