Wedding bells of deceit: AAP flags Cong-BJP collusion

Aam Aadmi Party leaders in Margao mark the third anniversary of Congress MLAs’ defection to BJP with a symbolic ‘BJP-Congress wedding cake.’

MARGAO

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa on Sunday marked three years since eight Congress MLAs defected to the BJP, describing it as a “BJP-Congress wedding.” AAP leaders cut a symbolic wedding anniversary cake and accused the Congress of repeatedly helping the BJP form governments in Goa and beyond.

National spokesperson Valmiki Naik said Congress MLAs had earlier supported the BJP twice to form government in the State. “If Congress wins seats in 2027, they will do it again,” he warned, adding that a vote for Congress was effectively a vote for the BJP.

He also alleged that Congress’ past promises of loyalty—through vows at temples and affidavits—were a sham. “Those affidavits don’t even exist. It was just a photo-op with Rahul Gandhi,” Naik claimed.

General Secretary (Campaign) Sandesh Telekar-Dessai referred to Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav’s recent statement that Congress contested elections there not to win, but only to defeat AAP—with approval from its top leadership. “This shows Congress is openly working with the BJP,” he said.

Nuvem leader Pio Kevin appealed to Goans not to be misled by what he called the “dirty backdoor politics” of the BJP and Congress.
