Three women from Bodemoll ward of Uguem village had a miraculous escape after the well which they visited collapsed after thirty minutes after they visited it.
The women Lata Rekdo, Maya Rekdo and Nagi Jangli, as usual, had gone to the well to fetch drinking water in the evening session on Saturday.
However seeing some bubbles oozing out from the bottom of the well, the three ladies decided to return home to inform their husbands of the peculiar situation in the well.
However before they could return to the well, it collapsed. However, no untoward incident took place.
Immediately after the incident, the villagers rushed to the site and were shocked to see the well, which they were using for the last several decades, collapsed.
Sanuem Mamlatdar who was informed about the incident immediately directed the talathi to visit the village and report to him about the incident.
The villagers from Bodemol were solely reliant on the well for drinking water as the taps in the village fail to get regular drinking water due to pressure problems.
After the incident, PWD made provision to supply drinking water to the villagers through water tankers and assured to continue supply on alternate days.
Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar along with panchayat member Marcus Pereira visited the village on Sundaty and took stock of the situation and assured the villagers of immediate help in the matter.
As the area surrounding the well is frequented by the villagers, the panchayat authorities with the help of local MLA barricaded the well with wooden fencing to avoid any untoward incident from taking place.
