MARGAO
A day after BJP MP and national spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi stirred a row over the India Political Network by linking it to Congress social media head Haseeba Amin, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar on Tuesday launched a blistering attack on the BJP, saying that Lekhi was trying to portray Haseeba in bad light by linking her religion to the WhatsApp group.
He also accused the BJP of trying to win the ensuing Lok Sabha elections by raking up the ghost of Pakistan and the recent terror attack.
Addressing the media in the presence of former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, District President Joe Dias, PCC member Damu Shirodkar and Margao Congress block chief Gopal Naik, Chodankar said the BJP is up to its old tricks of spreading misinformation amongst the people to hide its failure to deliver the goods. “Just because you are losing election, you are trying to link Haseeba to the WhatsApp group, which she alleges has members from Pakistan. The Congress party condemns Lekhi’s statement,” he said, while demanding that Lekhi owes an apology to Haseeba. He challenged BJP to lodge a complaint against Haseeba or go to court against the WhatsApp group instead of making insinuations against her.
