Congress leader and Mapusa Councillor Sudhir Kandolkar has threatened to stage an agitation if authorities do not tackle the issue of sewage water flowing on the road at Khorli Xim bypass within the next eight days.
Kandolkar along with ward councillor Anvi Korgaonkar, social worker Amey Korgaonkar, Congress Yuva Block President Himanshu Tivrekar, and others inspected the site on Tuesday afternoon.
Finding a port of the road slippery due to constant flow of sewage water, Kandolkar and others sprinkled bleaching powder to reduce the risk of vehicles skidding off the road.
Kandolkar also accused of the MLA of ignoring the issue.
“The BJP North Goa District office is just few metres from this Nullah and they pass through the same route. Yet, they have not paid attention to this problem."
Councillor Anvi Korgaonkar said the Nullah has been overflowing since the past two years but this year the problem had become severe.
Incidentally, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza and the NCP had also inspected the Nullah on separate occasions, but sewage continues to flow on the road.
