Revolutionary Goans Chief Manoj Parab has said the organization will approach the taluka mamlatdars in the run-up to the 2022 Assembly election for the deletion of names of migrants enrolled on the electoral rolls.
Parab also took strong exception to the BJP government’s decision to cancel Shigmo festivities in the state, cautioning the Hindus not to fall prey to fake Hindutva propagated by the ruling party when their interests are only to serve the corporates by selling Goa.
Addressing the media on Friday with Teotonio D’Costa and Marfan Andrade, the Revolutionary Goans President said the organization will approach all the taluka mamlatdars for the cancellation of the election voting cards of migrants that have been enrolled by using illegal details.
“In the elections for the City Corporation of Panjim, we had submitted around 140 applications to the taluka mamlatdar to delete the names of the migrants on the electoral rolls, of which 119 were cancelled,” he said, adding that the Revolutionary Goans will compile data on the illegal migrants on the election roll when they move door to door in the constituencies.
Commenting on the government’s decision to cancel Shigmo festivities in the state, Parab slammed the government, demanding to know why only Shigmo festivities have been cancelled when there’s no such bar on casinos or industrial workers in the industrial estates.
“Why only Shigmo festivities when the government has no plans to cancel casino activity or to bring down the industrial workers to 50 per cent or crack a whip against the migrants on the roads. This government is propagating fake Hindutva to garner votes. Our youth should not fall prey to the BJP machination,” he said, while exuding confidence that the Goan youth will show the BJP its true place in the 2022 elections.
Saying that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar and Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude have failed to protect Goa’s culture, heritage and identity, he said the government has betrayed the youth who have been involved in preparation for the Shigmo festivities. “No amount of compensation will compensate the youth who had put their heart and soul in the festivities,” he added.
Meanwhile, Parab cautioned Goans to be wary of hospitality extended to the hordes of migrants arriving in the state. Citing a case of how a member of the RG Marfan Andrade had to undergo an ordeal after he was charged by a migrant with a false case of molestation, Parab said the Children’s Court has acquitted Andrade from all the charges.
