VASCO
Former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Thursday expressed confidence of contesting from Mandrem constituency on the BJP ticket.
Parsekar was speaking to reporters after unveiling a huge 5x5 metre rangoli of Lord Damodar in Vasco.
“I belong to the BJP and have been active in carrying out work for last 30-35 years. I may get offers from various political parties but I don’t consider them because I have been a Karyakarta of the BJP and I will definitely contest the Mandrem seat on the banner and symbol of the BJP.”
“I will definitely get elected with the support of the people. Today, one of the main political discussions is whether or not I will be given a ticket but the people of Mandrem have already given me a ticket and this will ensure that the BJP will have to give me the ticket from Mandrem,” said Parsekar.
Parsekar believed it was divine intervention that brought him to Vasco to inaugurate the Lord Damodar Rangoli.
“Neither do I know the organisers nor am I from the field of art but I was invited to be the chief guest. It was only after I saw this wonderful Rangoli that I realised it may have been divine intervention calling me to come out of a long political gap and make my presence felt.”
The artist Akash Naik was supported by the Rotaract Club of Vasco and Samraat Club of Vasco to create a huge Rangoli of Shree Damodar, “Yajatam Vishwarupam”, measuring 5x5 metres in Vasco. Akash Naik was assisted by Sauraksha Naik and Rohit Naik.
