# Coastal authority prepones meet to discuss shack policy

The news comes even as the much-awaited final report of the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management is yet to arrive, which the GCZMA was initially awaiting before granting its clearance to the tourism department’s beach shack policy.
“The meeting has been brought forward to November 3. The shack policy will be discussed. A decision will be taken on whether to approve the shack policy without the final NCSCM report in place,” Member Secretary of the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority Srinet Kothawale said.
Earlier in the day, a delegation of aggrieved shack owners called on the Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar as well as the Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in a bid to press for their demands. “We have been promised that the policy will be approved by the GCZMA in the meeting held on November 3 and thereafter the licences will be issued. I hope that we can set up shop by mid-November,” President of the All Goa Shack Owners Welfare Society said.
