Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral has expressed willingness to resign as MLA for Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and has assured to keep working for Curchorem even when Parrikar becomes legislator.

He was speaking at a function organised at Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem on Thursday morning on the demonstration of a new KTC bus stand project.
Speaking to local mediapersons, Cabral said he would voluntarily resign as Curchorem MLA for Parrikar, but added that he would need about five days to vacate the seat and inform the people of Curchorem constituency, who had elected him with a huge margin.
Curchorem constituency is considered one of the safe seats for the BJP and for Parrikar, who needs to be elected into the assembly within six months.
In the assembly polls, Cabral had won the Curchorem seat by a huge margin after he had polled 12,830 votes. More significantly, Cabral had polled more than all of his opponents combined. His nearest rival polled, Shyan Satardekar (GSM) had polled only 3,742 votes, followed by Rosario Fernandes of Congress (2,778) and James Fernandes of AAP (2,028).  “Even if I step down as MLA, I will continue to work for the people of Curchorem,” said Cabral, while speaking to The Goan.
Asked if he had been promised any alternative position in the government if he were to step down as MLA to make way for Parrikar to get elected from Curchorem, Cabral replied in
the negative.
