Stating that a new model would have to be adopted to run a State-of-the-art hospital like the Chicalim Sub-District hospital, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday said he would soon take up the matter with Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
Rane was replying to queries made by media persons on the newly inaugurated Chicalim Sub-District hospital, where locals and activists have alleged that the hospital has only one functional ward, where all patients -- male, female, children and maternity patients -- are admitted. “To run a State-of-the-art hospital like the Chicalim Sub-District hospital, a new model will have to be adopted and I will soon take up the matter with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant soon,” said Rane.
“Some may not understand the technicalities involved in running a hospital project. The Chicalim hospital has been inaugurated but many health services posts are pending. I have sought an appointment with the chief minister and I will have detailed discussions on the hospital project. It will take us a few months to make the hospital fully functional. Secondly, we are planning to work out a different model to run the hospital and I will be setting up a team which will work on this new model to run the hospital,” the health minister added.
