In the difficult economic situation in the time of Covid which has created negativity about the party in the public mind and with the “unreliable” ambitious flock of non-core BJP MLAs who have entered the ruling dispensation, the saffron party’s State functionaries are now working with a strategy to keep the core flock of the BJP cadre together to sail through 2022 polls smoothly.
With the popularity of the Modi government on the downfall, the party functionaries have the biggest challenge ahead for the 2022 elections.
The party executive meeting which was held a couple of days ago has decided to face the next elections under the leadership of Pramod Sawant. However, Sawant is still struggling to solve the economic conditions, mining, and other bigger issues and make his image like that of late Manohar Parrikar.
The party has the biggest task of keeping in control the heavyweight leaders who have shifted from other parties to BJP. Chandrakant Kavlekar, Atanasio Monserrate, Jennifer Monserrate, Filipe Neri Rodrigues, Nilkanth Halarnkar, Francisco Silveira, Clafacio Dias, Isidore Fernandes, Wilfred D’Sa, Tony Fernandes are the 10 Congress who have joined BJP.
Earlier Pandurang Madkaikar, Vishwajit Rane, Subhash Shirodkar, Mauvin Godinho, Dayanand Sopte, Manohar Ajgaonkar, and Deepak Pauskar also joined the party. These leaders from other parties have no ideological bonding with the BJP.
The plus point for BJP is that unlike Congress, it has an organised structure in the state. The saffron party keeps its cadre busy in regular party works which keeps its flock intact.
Even though there are internal differences among the cadre, they do not shift to the other parties.
Now the BJP Goa unit has activated different cells of the party like BJP Kissan Morcha, BJP ST/SC Morcha. These wings have been activated to keep workers of various communities united.
The BJP Yuva Morcha and BJP Minority Cell are also two important units that are at work from a long time back.
The BJP has appointed former Chief Minister Laximikant Parsekar as chairman of the party’s education policy committee. This is an attempt to keep this aggrieved leader with the party flock.
Similarly, Prakash Velip and Ramesh Tawadkar have been given some party and government posts to keep them in good stead.
With this internal structure, the BJP executive leaders are confident that the BJP will win the 2022 elections despite the non-presence of its influential and management guru leader Manohar Parrikar.
But only time will prove whether this strategy adopted by the top party leaders will be successful or not.
