MARGAO
Friends-turned-foes, Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai and Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Digambar Kamat worked on the ground in support of their respective candidates in the May 7 Lok Sabha.
They left no stone unturned and made a determined bid to storm each other’s fort as the duo made their presence felt in each other’s territory in the run-up to the poll campaign.
Come June 4, both Digambar Kamat and Vijai Sardesai may be the first amongst the political players to receive their “report card” as poll officials expect that the results of Margao and Fatorda will be out first compared to the remaining 18 Assembly segments.
Reason: Counting of votes of Margao, Fatorda along with Canacona Assembly segments will be taken up in halls, which have enough space to accommodate as many as 14 counting tables compared to the remaining 17 halls, which can accommodate only 7 counting tables.
This implies that while the remaining 17 Assembly segments will complete one round of counting, Margao, Fatorda and Canacona will by that time count double the number of votes, given the sheer number of counting tables, almost double the number of counting tables.
Again, of the three segments, Margao, Fatorda and Canacona, the results of Margao and Fatorda is expected to be out first, given that Canacona has a relatively higher number of polling stations compared to Margao and Fatorda.
