With no hope of ticket, GF’s San Andre leader joins TMC

Minutes later, rewarded with election ticket

OLD GOA
Hours after Congress declared its candidate in San Andre, Jagdish Bhobe resigned from Goa Forward Party (GFP) and joined Trinamool Congress at a hurriedly held function in the capital city late Tuesday evening.

And minutes later, Bhobe was awarded for joining TMC as he was named San Andre candidate as the party announced its first list of 11 candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Earlier, Bhobe joined TMC along with his supporters in the presence of TMC MP and Goa in-charge Mahua Moitra and TMC’s RS MP Luizinho Faleiro.

Speaking to reporters, an upset Bhobe hit out at the Congress stating that a new trend is emerging in Goa wherein the candidates are bought even before elections are held.

“The Congress candidate has been working for the BJP since the last 20 years and it is a secret deal between the BJP and the Congress. I am pretty sure that if the Congress candidate, by chance, emerges victorious, he would join the BJP within 15 days,” Bhobe said.

“TMC is the only party which is fighting to send BJP home and I, along with my team, will work to defeat BJP not only in San Andre but entire Goa,” he added.

However, Bhobe chose not to utter a single word against GFP even when reporters questioned his silence.

Earlier, Moitra welcomed Bhobe in TMC by stating that he will make a very significant contribution to the electoral politics of Goa.

On his part, Faleiro said that Bhobe immediately decided to join TMC as he felt betrayed by Congress and GFP.

“Bhobe is a tall leader with good qualities,” he stated.
