Goa Trinamool Congress on Wednesday said its schemes, namely Griha Laxmi, Yuva Shakti and ‘Mhaje Ghar, Maalki Hakk, are like three gifts for the people of Goa.
Speaking on Goa TMC’s vision for Goenkars, Goa TMC leader Avita Bandodkar, who was accompanied by Kirti Azad, said, “More than 60 per cent of Goans do not have land rights. Around 20,000 families still have their cases pending with mamlatdars. Even today, over 50,000 Goan families do not own land or houses.”
She said neither the BJP nor the Congress tried to solve their problems. “But under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, Goa TMC has launched ‘Mhaje Ghar, Maalki Hakk’ to give title and ownership of the land or house to Goans. Not just that, over 50,000 subsidised homes will be given to homeless families,” she said
Bandodkar said, “During our door-to-door campaigns, we have come across people who are suffering from generations because they don’t own a house. We want to put an end to their suffering.”
Explaining how these schemes are feasible, AITC leader Kirti Azad said, “Under Griha Laxmi scheme, a woman in every household will get Rs 5000 per month. The Ministry of Finance and RBI will provide us fiscal space to carry out these schemes successfully in Goa.”
If we combine both Griha Laxmi and Yuva Shakti, the annual budget needed for both would be less than 10% of the total budget, which is doable, he added.
When accused of being an ‘outsider’ party, Azad slammed the BJP and put forth pointed questions, “Are Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose from Bengal or India? Is Shivaji Maharaj a Marathi or Indian? If we are outsiders then what is PM Modi doing in Delhi?”
Azad further remarked that TMC will fight to save the heritage of Goa and promote peace, prosperity and brotherhood in the state.
