The Morjim gram sabha on Sunday made a demand for construction of a Ravindra Bhavan, shift the panchayat office from the Morjai temple premises and construct a children’s park in the village.
The villagers also demanded to withdraw the NOCs given to big hotels in Morjim if no revenue is earned from them, while annual budget of Rs 1.50 crore was presented. A villager, Ramkrishna Morje said the panchayat should disclose the income generated from the hotels at Gawadewada and Tembwada.
In his reply, panchayat secretary Vijay Tilve said: “There is no income from the hotels concerned as these are
illegal.”
Later, some residents suggested that the panchayat should recover the dues from the hotels or it should withdraw the NOCs given to them if it does not earn any revenue.
Sandeep Shetgaonkar demanded action against a Russian national, who is running a bakery in the village and disposing waste water in the traditional rivulet.
Another resident, Santosh Shetgaonkar said the existing panchayat building is located in the land belonging to the Morjai temple and
demanded to shift the office and construct an independent panchayat building under ‘Deendayal Panchayat Ghar Scheme.’
The villagers also resolved to construct Kala Bhavan in the locality. Residents Santosh Shetgaonkar and Deepak Shetgaonkar demanded construction of a children’s park and forest park in the Morjim coastal areas.
A resolution was passed to construct police station,
fire and emergency service building.
