The probe is warranted since the woman, a native of Nepal and resident of Candolim, died within seven years of her marriage.
A Calangute police team visited the site on receiving information about the body at around 6.45 am and found a cell phone at the spot.
Based on the cell phone, police managed to identify the body and immediately
summoned the husband of the deceased.
They informed that the deceased was married to a Goan, Vinci D’Souza, in 2011 and since the death was within seven years of marriage, the SDM Chandrakant Shetkar will conduct an inquiry under Section 176 CrPC.
Following a request from the police, Shetkar has initiated an inquiry and has summoned parents and relatives of the deceased woman.
The post mortem examination will be held at the instruction of SDM once the parents arrive for the inquiry.
Police conducted the panchanama and sent the body to the GMC mortuary.
