In a surprising accident, a woman was seriously injured when the motorbike she was riding on slipped off the NH-66 road at Karmalghat on Sunday evening.
A couple, husband and wife, were travelling on a motorbike with Maharashtra registration towards Margao when they had a sudden accident. The motorbike slipped off the road while descending the Karmalghat slope, just before reaching a sharp turn, at around 5.30 pm.
Reportedly, the couple had been to some beaches in Canacona and were on their way to Margao. They were helped by a local driver and some tourists on motorbikes after calling the 108 emergency services. Both the husband and wife fell off the motorbike, and the woman was found unconscious. Onlookers provided water and comforted the rider until an ambulance arrived.
The unconscious woman was then carefully placed on a stretcher and taken into the ambulance, while others helped move the damaged motorbike to the side of the road.
A nearby motorist, who was driving behind the couple, witnessed the incident. He noticed that the motorbike, which was cautiously navigating the slope, suddenly slipped and caused both riders to fall.
Interestingly, everyone searched for signs of oil or fishwater spillage on the road, which could have caused the accident.
