PANAJI
The National Fire Service Day was commemorated on Sunday in Panaji organised by the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
This year’s national theme for the fire prevention week was ‘Ensure Fire Safety, Contribute towards Nation Building’.
Wreaths were laid at the “Martyrs Memorial Column” at the Fire Force Training Ground, Panaji by Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, Nitin Raiker, Director, Fire & Emergency Services, and all ranks from Deputy Director (Fire) to Fire Fighter. A signature campaign was undertaken as part of the SVEEP campaign, and a two-minute silence was observed in memory of Firemen Martyrs who lost their lives while on duty.
The Chief Guest, Sanjit Rodrigues, reviewed the ceremonial parade. Commendation Certificates were awarded for exemplary performance.
During the event, Raiker highlighted that the National Fire Service Day is followed by Fire Prevention Week from April 14 to 20, with the theme ‘Ensure Fire Safety, Contribute towards Nation Building’.
