Tourism Minister Manohar (Babu) Azgaonkar informed that he recently convened a meeting with Housing Board Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar to give some land for the construction of Ravindra Bhavan, which is occupied by the housing board at Dhargal.
When contacted, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gawade said the Housing Board department has sent a letter to make available land in the housing board colony for the construction of Ravindra Bhavan at Dhargal.
"After the Housing Board hands over the land to Art and Culture department, project plan, appointment of consultants and floating of tender will be initiated and this will take about a year. The process of Ravindra Bhavan will start after the monsoon assembly session," assured Gawade.
Tourism Minister Azgaonkar said there was a plan to construct Ravindra Bhavan in Pernem Municipal area, but due to non availability of land, the project was finalised at Dhargal.
"When I was the minister earlier, I had reserved a land for housing colony at Dhargal and now I have decided to give some part of the land to the Art and Culture department for the construction of Ravindra Bhavan," he added.
Meanwhile, citizens and artistes from Pernem taluka have expressed happiness over government's plans to construct Ravindra Bhavan at Dhargal.
