Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte launched the work to construct a retaining wall and drainage at Housing Board Colony in Porvorim in the presence of Sarpanch of Penha de Franca panchayat Swapnil Chodankar and panch members and the locals.
In his address, Khaunte said the panchayat would also construct a footpath from Gadgemaharaj hall to Ektanaga.
“Traffic between the Nana Nani Park and Gadge Maharaj hall has risen sharply in recent years and since schools are in the vicinity of Ektanagar, residents have been demanding the construction of a footpath along this road,” said Khaunte.
He also informed that internal roads would be repaired and hotmixed in November.
Penha de Franca Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar said the retaining wall and drainage is being constructed at a cost of Rs 10 lakh and added that the panchayat has undertaken the work to cut overgrown bushes by the footpaths and along internal roads in the village.
