Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar has said works on the up-ramp will begin within a week and completed by around nine months.
Salkar along with the PWD principal chief engineer, municipal councillors Girish Borker, Amay Chopdekar and other officials of the PWD department carried out a joint site inspection at Vasco for the proposed Up-Ramp connectivity to the four-lane port connectivity flyover.
“We had an inspection in the past with traffic department, highway authorities and PWD for this up ramp and we had given them a go-ahead. We have now carried out a final site inspection and the works on this will begin in two days,” said Salkar, while speaking to media after the joint site inspection.
“This Up-Ramp will start from the Maharaja Hotel near the Vasco police station and connect to the Four-Lane Port Connectivity Flyover that leads to Verna Junction via Dabolim Airport road. This is the need of the hour and it is to decongest the city while also providing us another exit from the city in case of an emergency.”
Salkar said all technical feasibilities were checked before he went ahead with this project. “Works on the Up-Ramp and the port connectivity arm connecting the flyover to the port will be taken up simultaneously and completed within nine months. We also want to clarify that this is a one-way exit ramp only for vehicles to move out of the city and I appeal people to have patience with us while the work is being carried out here,” said Salkar.
