Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida on Wednesday said work on the Vasco fish market would begin within three months, adding that a number of development projects would be launched in the port town.
Almeida was speaking to reporters after launching work to install protection railings along the roads at New Vaddem, Mangor and Maimolem in Vasco. He also launched drainage works near Ekta Residency Vasco.
Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Nandadeep Raut and other MMC councillors were also present during the launch of these works.
The Vasco MLA said the entire cost of the project to install protection railings was around Rs 40 lakh, adding that the works would be completed in four months. “The protection railings are being put up after people complained of accidents along the three steep and sloping roads at Mangor, new Vaddem and Maimolem. This work should be ready within four months,” said Almeida.
Almeida also said Vasco would soon witness several development works.
“Work on the Kadamba bus stand has begun. We will take up work on the Vasco fish market within three months. We will take up different works in Vasco as many projects are being cleared and readied. These projects will be launched soon,” added Almeida.
Speaking to reporters, MMC Ward Councillor Fredrick Henriques said the protection railings were a long-pending demand, which had been fulfilled by Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida.
“These protection railings will provide additional safety to motorists,”
said Henriques.
