Stating that work on the 20 MLD water treatment plant has been tendered and will commence in January 2019, Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has hoped that residents of Porvorim constituency will get better water supply by the end of next year. “Work on the water storage tank has been completed by Water Resources Department and the beautification work of this area is in progress,” said Khaunte.
He was speaking at Porvorim after inaugurating the herbal and butterfly garden developed by Penha de Franca Bio Diversity Management Committee in association with the Goa state Bio-Diversity Board. “Every open space in the constituency will be utilised for a community project. With the corporate assistance, Women Self Help groups in Porvorim constituency will be given the job of making cloth bags, which will be distributed throughout Goa through municipalities and Panchayats. The aim of this endeavour is to reduce the usage of plastic and make Goa plastic-free,” said Khaunte.
