Police department shut down an ongoing party at Goa Rustic Farm in Golavali village of Sattari taluka on Sunday after locals raised serious concerns about noise pollution in their vicinity.
The aggrieved locals said they have been bearing the brunt of repeated organisation of such parties inside the farm for the last couple of months. They said the noise pollution from the partying on Saturday and Sunday were just unbearable.
On Sunday, the angry locals took the matter to the Valpoi police station when a party was going on at the farm. They demanded with the police to shut it down. The police visited the site and directed the organiser to shut down the music. Thane Dombivli panchayat member Nilesh Parwar said in the last couple of months locals have been repeatedly complaining about the loud music parties at the farm, especially on Saturdays and Sundays.
Parwar said the area where the loud music was played was close to an eco-sensitive zone and it could alter the behaviour pattern of wild animals. He said chances are that some of the animals may get furious and there is a possibility they could enter their locality.
Eco-sensitive zone committee member Milind Gadgil said noise pollution in close vicinity of an eco-sensitive area was a serious offence because it was proven scientifically it alters animal behaviour pattern.
Gadgil said the forest department and the police have to work in tandem to a keep close watch on this farm.
Meanwhile, the villagers from Golavali have warned the farm owners not to organise such parties in future or else they would be forced to take the law in their hands.
