Thousands of labourers from Jharkhand, UP, MP and Assam, who are employed at the Mopa airport construction site, have threatened a strike if their pending wages are not paid immediately.
The workers began protesting at the gate to the construction site on Friday and threatened a full-fledged strike. Officials and a police team rushed to the site to defuse the tension and to hold talks with the agitated labourers.
The labourers were pacified after they were assured that their grievances over pending wages would be resolved by Saturday.
The workers had recently protested over the same issue and there are speculations that some of the aggrieved labourers may be linked to the destruction of six trucks in a major fire at the construction site on Wednesday.
