Working of Saligao WTP explained

PANAJI: Siolim-Marna, Siolim Civic and Consumer Forum and My Siolim: the Environment and Heritage Club visited the Saligao waste treatment plant, to learn more about how waste is treated at this plant.

Ganesh Koduswamy from Hindustan Waste Treatment Pvt Ltd explained in detail the process involved in treating the waste and how the plant converts waste water into recycled water. The methane gas generated is used to produce electricity for the plant and the food waste is converted into compost manure. The segregated waste is then baled to be transported to other plants for fuel.

The group consisted of GFDC-Siolim trainees with coaches, members of organisations operating in Siolim.
