Paliencar along with Durgadas Kamat and others visited the office at about 12 noon and sought details of the works completed and under completion from 2012 to 2017.
Though nobody was found absent while on duty, Paliencar cautioned the staff that dereliction in duty would not be tolerated.
When AE Sanjay Prabhu tried to offer an explanation on some issues, the minister cut him short and said he knew to run the administration of his dept. Later speaking to the press, Paliencar said all staff employees were present in the office, while one engineer was on the field.
“I have sought details of works from 2012 to 2017. I will inspect ongoing works by making surprise visits. Not only this, I have also asked for details of staff who are in this office for over three years,” he said, hinting that those staff serving for over three years in the same office could be shifted to another place.
Asked if he would continue such surprise visits at various offices in his department, Paliencar replied in the positive. “I want to bring about discipline in the administration. Action will be taken against those who are undisciplined at work. I will keep a constant watch on my department by making such surprise visits,” he added.
Later, the minister visited a Nullah at Curti, where retaining walls are being constructed. “This Nullah will be cleaned before the rainy season and action will also be taken against those releasing waste into the Nullah,” he said.
