In a bid to ensure wide participation in the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations, the State government has directed all departments, offices, autonomous bodies and corporations to ensure mandatory participation of their officers and staff in yoga sessions scheduled across the State on June 21.

In a circular issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), all Heads of Departments and Heads of Offices have been instructed to ensure that government employees participate in the yoga programme at the nearest designated venue as part of the State's efforts to promote health and wellbeing.

The circular mandates employees to take part in the yoga session on June 21, scan the QR code provided by the organisers to generate their participation certificate immediately after the event, and submit a copy or screenshot of the certificate to their respective department heads for office records.

The GAD said the cooperation of all departments is essential to make the International Day of Yoga 2026 a landmark public health initiative in Goa. It urged all government establishments to actively motivate employees to participate and contribute towards making the event a grand success.

The directions come amid the State government's push to encourage healthier lifestyles and enhance awareness about the benefits of yoga among public servants and the wider community.
