A 25-year-old man was seriously injured after being knocked down by a four-wheeler while crossing the road near Dhargal Panchayat on National Highway 66 at around 3.30 pm on Saturday.
The victim, identified as Gauresh Dhargalkar, was first rushed to the Mapusa hospital and later shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim. His condition is reported to be critical, informed Pernem Police Inspector Sachin Lokre.
The police have registered a case against the driver of the car, Mashayikh Sheikh, a resident of Margao.
Dhargalkar, who hails from Dhargal and currently resides in Ponda, had returned home for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
