Youth dies after motorcycle crashes off Baina flyover

A 23-year-old man died after his motorcycle crashed into the safety barrier on the Baina flyover, causing him to fall near the railway tracks at IOC junction in Vasco.   

The accident happened on Saturday when the rider, identified as Girish Ram Gurkha of Bhute Bhat, Baina, was travelling from Vasco towards Baina on his KTM Duke motorcycle (registration GA06Q3138). While crossing the flyover, he reportedly lost control and hit the side barrier. The impact threw him off the bridge, and he fell to the ground, sustaining severe injuries. The pillion rider suffered minor injuries.   

Girish Gurkha was taken to Sub District Hospital, Chicalim, in a 108 ambulance. Hospital authorities later informed police that he had been brought in dead.  

Police have registered a motor vehicle accident case and investigations are ongoing.
