Road safety drive aims to improve visibility
Volunteers from Curchorem and nearby areas launch a road safety drive to improve visibility and help prevent mishaps during night-time and monsoon travel.

In a voluntary effort to improve road safety, youth from Curchorem and nearby areas have placed reflective tapes at several dangerous spots along the main roads connecting Curchorem with Quepem and Sanguem.
The initiative, led by social worker Dattaraj Raut Dessai, was launched following growing concerns over accidents and poor visibility at accident-prone locations, especially during the night and monsoon season.
The youth identified sharp bends, roadside barricades, culverts and other risky stretches where motorists often face difficulties due to poor lighting and the lack of warning signs.
As part of the drive, radium tapes were fixed on roadside structures, dividers and other vulnerable points to improve visibility for motorists travelling at night.
The volunteers said the reflective tapes would help alert drivers and reduce the chances of accidents on dark stretches of the road.
Locals appreciated the efforts of the youth and said such community-driven initiatives play an important role in spreading awareness about road safety and protecting lives.
The volunteers also appealed to motorists to drive carefully and cooperate in maintaining the safety measures installed along the roads.
