Vasco police was informed of a body lying near Annapurna Restaurant, and enquiries led police to identify the deceased as one Ramesh Chauhan of Linsur in Thane-Maharashtra, who was a beggar and chronic alcoholic.
“It was also revealed that the deceased had been working at a kiosk near Vasco Railway Station," said a source.
After an autopsy, foul play was suspected in the death of the deceased and a case of murder was registered at Vasco police station under Section 302 IPC.
"During the course of the inquiry, it was revealed through eyewitnesses that on Friday at about 5.30 am, one Prithvi Chauhan (19) had come to purchase a beer bottle at a bar near Syndicate Bank, Vasco, and had entered into an argument with the deceased,” said the source.
