SANGUEM
Citizens from Sanguem led by youth leader Meshu D’Costa have demanded installation of a lift in the government office complex at Sanguem on an urgent basis.
The three-storeyed building, which houses government offices of PWD, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, BDO and the Mamlatdar, is lacking in the lift service despite the contractor having made due provision for its installation. In the absence of the lift, the citizens, especially senior citizens and medically-ill persons, are finding it difficult to climb the stairs to the third floor.
Highlighting a recent case, D’Costa said that an elderly lady who had come to visit the mamlatdar’s office for some official work fainted and had to be rushed for medical care as she got literally tired after climbing the stairs.
D’Costa said in the absence of the lift, people carrying their pets to the third floor where the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services are put to great inconvenience.
Joint Mamlatdar Sanguem Ana Maria Costa has reportedly assured D’Costa of looking into the matter and conveying the same to the authorities.
