Youth seek refund of fees from recruitment agent

MARGAO

On Monday, a group of young people visited the Margao police station to check on the progress of their complaint against a recruitment agent who had failed to refund their money.

Accompanied by activist Pratima Coutinho, the group explained that the agent had promised them jobs in European countries. However, they claimed that not only were the promised jobs never provided, but the agent also refused to return their money.

Pratima Coutinho said she had accompanied the two victims, Roy Barretto and Godfrey D’Souza, to the Margao police station to ask PI Tulsidas Naik about the status of their complaint against the agent.

“These young people borrowed money from their family and friends to pay for the jobs they were promised. Some even took out bank loans to pay the agent. If the agent failed to deliver the jobs, he should have refunded their money by now,” Pratima said. She urged PI Tulsidas Naik to clarify the status of the case and whether the victims could expect their money back soon.
