In a major boost for the long ago proposed electronic manufacturing cluster (EMC) at Tuem in Pernem Taluka, the State government finally got a firm investor “ Zen Technologies Limited “ which is setting up an anti-drone manufacturing unit there.
On Friday, the State government handed over the allotment letter of the land at the Tuem EMC to the company’s representatives at a function held at Porvorim where Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Information Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte and Infotech Corporation Chairman Dr Chandrakant Shetye among others were present.
The State government also signed an MoU with Zen Technologies Limited for setting up the unit for which the company is expected to pump in an initial investment of Rs 50 crore.
A training centre is also being set up there first, where Goa’s engineering, diploma and ITI pass outs will be trained so that they are qualified to take up the nearly 800 jobs when the manufacturing unit is ready for operations, Sawant said.
The company, which is also an exporter, is expected to set up the manufacturing unit at Tuem within the next two years. It is currently engaged in manufacturing simulators for weapons, allied defence equipment and training systems.
