‘All states, stakeholders supporting electric mobility’

CANACONA

Union Minister of Heavy Industries Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey on Saturday insisted that all states and stakeholders are committed and equally working towards making a Greener India by promoting electric mobility.

Dr Pandey was responding to a query about the participation of transport ministers from only nine states/UTs and transport departments heads of only 19 States/UTs during a news conference after a Round Table organised by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) at Canacona to promote Electric Mobility.

Incidentally, a senior bureaucrat led the Goa team, as Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho was conspicuous by his absence at the Round Table.

During his concluding remarks earlier at the Round Table, Dr Pandey mentioned that Goa’s transport minister could not attend the Round Table but appreciated Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s presence at the event.

Downplaying the absence of other states and union territories as not a matter of concern, Dr Pandey said, "All states are supporting this mission and are supportive of electric vehicles.”

“Their absence could be due to Covid restrictions but that should not be construed as being unsupportive to the Central government’s initiative to promote Electric Mobility.”
